The Thing: purely a journal entry

Here's the thing: I uh, stopped blogging here when things picked up at GNMParents. It's been a great outlet for parenting related stuff and for connecting with other parents.

Kind of like this site was a good outlet for exercise related stuff and connecting with other exercisers. Except I seem to have abandoned exercise.

So I am presented with a bit of a dilemma. It's my own thing but since I'm processing it I figure I might as well do it here.

I have made no significant progress towards completing my weightloss goals for the past 6 months (maybe longer). This is amazing considering I am pretty close to the finish line. It's like quiting a 5k with 15 yards to go. I have 5 lbs to meet my official goal and 5 beyond that as a cushion. So 10 lbs total.

Last time I ran was at the Jingle Bell run at the beginning of December. Before that it had been months. I was sore for 2 days after the 5k. I ran 3 days a week all summer long. Ok, so I hated it mostly, but I did it. Is it really just the weather? That's a pretty lame excuse seeing as up until this week we've had no snow to speak of and lots of warm days. (On a side note it is currently 2 degrees outside my house!)

The dilemma is this: do I scrap this place and say goodbye or do I use it purely to keep me accountable for my daily activities in effort to motivate myself to hit my goals?

I am not sure.

It's a tough decision, but your blog doesn't have to be all about running or exercising.

Keep it as a general journal :)

I ask myself this question nearly daily....Should I just stop this? What exactly am I doing here? The existential blogger dilemma. :)

Do what brings you joy, in my ever-humble opinion. You can use this space to write bad poetry, document your exercise, write your favorite recipes...but if you see it as a place that documents your "failure" of "not running" or "not losing 10 pounds", it's not really a fun place for you and you shouldn't feel obliged to keep it.

On the other hand, maybe you just don't like to run ~ I can relate some days!! ~ and you'll find that you need a place to journal your beach walks or bike rides, or whatever it is that inspires you go out there and move.

Now that I know where to stalk you, I have less of a vested personal interest, so I won't push you either way. :)

Anyway I'm just glad you're well.

I am with the others, especially Mia Goddess...if this place is dangling "failure" and lack of exercise in front of you, ditch it, girl, you don't need that bringing you down!!!!

BUT that said, ask youself why you started your exercise journey, what has taken you away from it, if you want to recommence it and why? You won't exercise until you are ready, if you are not ready, there is NO shame in that, you are THIS CLOSE to your WL goal (WTG ON THAT, BTW!!!!!), you will get back into it when you are ready.

Did that make any sense?

So, I guess I would say if you are not exercising right now, stick with your other site until you are ready. OR do what Erica Douglass suggested, make it a general journal, expand its focus!

GL with your choice:-)
